Carl "Pavano" Koch

I played baseball today with Carl on "Koch Field" while Abe was taking a nap. Carl was the pitcher and I was the batter. Here's a little bit of how it went...

Pitch #1 - Nice pitch but I swing and miss, Carl yells "Strike Ten!"

Pitch #2 - At least 12 feet over my head and I don't even swing, Carl says, "Mom, you hafta keep your eye on the ball!"

Pitch #3 - Way behind me and I half attempt to turn and swing backwards but really I had no chance, Carl yells out, "Mom, you gotta be ready when I pitch the ball!"

Pitch #4 - Decent pitch but I swing and miss, Carl says, "Maybe we can give you a treat after dinner tonight if you hit one of these balls."

Pitch #5 - Not the greatest pitch but I do swing and finally I make a hit! Carl runs up and gives me a great big hug!

I love this kid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am hanging up my blogging hat for awhile. I really wanted to get Abe's first year documented and am happy to have accomplished that. I hope that the boys can look back on this as adults and read about some of the happenings in their early life. Maybe I'll start up again after I get up to date on their photo memory books! Ciao!

Carl and Abe's Office

After much rearranging of our entire house, Carl & Abe now share a bedroom!  Here they are getting ready for bed the first night.  They were pretty excited! A couple weeks later, Carl referred to their new room as their "office." Like they have really important business going on in there!

Happy 1st Birthday ABE!!

Poor little guy was sick on his birthday (Tuesday) then we celebrated again after Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday at which time he had an ear infection. It was fun none the less. We had a monkey/football theme going.

Apple Orchard

The boys had so much fun climbing on this haystack at the Apple Orchard.  I wish we had a haystack in our yard, it would keep them occupied for hours!

Abe's pumpkin is on the left and Carl's on the right.  Carl specifically requested diamond eyes and 3 teeth (because he is 3)

The 11 month old

Abe got his hair cut for the first time this past month (by mom)  He has had 7 teeth for the longest time, we are still waiting for his lower left one to pop through.  His favorite toys are this little John Deere tractor and walker (below) and my cell phone which he screams to get his hands on.  He sleeps well, eats well and is generally content!

Abe is going to ECFE on Tuesday nights this fall.  We chose a night class so that just Abe and Mom can go, however on nights when John is out of town, Carl can come with us too.  Here he is on the first night...

Carl started preschool today at Lincoln Ed. in Detroit Lakes.  He was being a goofball as usual and wouldn't let me get a nice picture....  oh well, this shows his character!

Abe and I got to go in with him for the first hour.  Abe had as much fun as Carl did!

Carl sure loved wearing his backpack!
